Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK), in collaboration with the King Sejong Institute (KSI) Banda Aceh and the Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency (BP2MI), has launched a Korean language training program for prospective Indonesian migrant workers. The initiative is part of the Capacity Development Program for Prospective Migrant Workers funded through the Additional Budget (ABT) of the Directorate of Migrant Worker Capacity Development, BP2MI for 2025.

The program was officially inaugurated on October 6, 2025, at the KSI Banda Aceh building and will run until December 8, 2025. A total of 20 participants from various regions across Aceh are taking part in the training. Coming from diverse backgrounds, they will undergo over two months of intensive Korean language instruction as preparation for working abroad, particularly in South Korea.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Chairman of the Office of International Affairs (OIA) USK, Dr. Muzailin Affan, S.Si., M.Sc. In his remarks, he expressed strong support for the initiative.

“We fully support this program. We hope this training becomes an important first step for each participant to achieve success and build a better future,” said Dr. Muzailin.

The program not only focuses on language proficiency but also introduces participants to Korean culture and work ethics. Through this collaboration between USK, KSI Banda Aceh, and BP2MI, the training aims to build stronger readiness among prospective migrant workers as they enter the global workforce.

In addition to enhancing participants’ language skills, the initiative is a tangible demonstration of Universitas Syiah Kuala’s commitment to community empowerment through language education and international training that aligns with current labor market demands.
