USK Welcomes 35 International Students with Orientation Program

Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK) held an orientation program for 35 new international students of the 2025/2026 academic year. The event took place on 10 September 2025, at the VIP Room of AAC Dayan Dawood.

On this occasion, the Chairman of the Office of International Affairs (KUI), Dr. Muzailin, S.Si., M.Sc., warmly welcomed all the international students. He emphasized that their presence is clear evidence that USK is an open campus and is increasingly recognized on a global scale.

According to Dr. Muzailin, the 35 international students come from 13 countries: India, Tajikistan, Myanmar, Libya, Thailand, Malaysia, Palestine, Botswana, Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea, Afghanistan, Malawi, and Tanzania.

He explained that the orientation aims to introduce the international students to the academic environment at USK and to Aceh in general. He encouraged them to make the most of the program.

“During your time at USK, you are not only here to study. You are also here to expand your networks and to learn about the local culture. All of these experiences will be invaluable when you return to your home country,” he said.

Furthermore, Dr. Muzailin urged the students to become brand ambassadors for USK in their respective countries. He reminded them to study diligently, as their academic success would not only shape their future but also enhance the university’s reputation.

“If your education here goes well, it will be beneficial not only for your own future but also for the reputation of this university,” he added.

The orientation program covered various topics, including Introduction to the Academic System at USK, delivered by the Directorate of Education and Learning, Prof. Dr. Ir. Nasaruddin, S.T., M.Eng., Introduction to USK Facilities and Infrastructure, presented by the Directorate of Resources, Prof. Dr. drh. Muhammad Hambal, Introduction to MyUSK Application, presented by the Directorate of Business and Sustainable Funds or its representative, Dewi Suryani Sentosa, Introduction of OIA and Culture Shock, delivered by OIA Manager, Ria Ervilita, S.Pd., M.Sc., Introduction to Dormitory Unit, presented by the Head of UPT Dormitory, Prof. Amirudin, Introduction to UP3AI, presented by the Head of UP3AI, Dr. Hendra Kurniawan, M.Sc., Sp.P(K) and Introduction to UKM and BEM by Aditya Rivaldi, S.H., LL.M.

Through these sessions, students were introduced not only to USK’s facilities, academic system, and leadership, but also given guidance to overcome culture shock, as well as information about student development programs, extracurricular activities, and student organizations.
