USK Welcomed International Student Academic Year 2022/2023

Office of International Affairs (OIA) successfully held a welcome ceremony and orientation for international students from Australia, Malaysia, and Thailand. The event took place at Adnan Ganto Room, USK Main Library, on 20 September 2022.
Dr. Muzailin Affan, Chairman of OIA, welcomed them with pleasure through his welcoming speech. He hoped during their study at the university, the students can take opportunities to be engaged with Acehnese societies.
“Today we are supposed to introduce you Universitas Syiah Kuala and Aceh. And I want to say welcome to Aceh. I hope you can enjoy your study during living in the center of Aceh, Banda Aceh city”.
Attended on the day, the Head of the Immigration Office Class I TPI Banda Aceh, Telmaizul. On that occasion, he delivered a presentation about immigration briefly.
“It is easy for you to make VISA, you can simply do the process online through the link visa-online.imigrasi.go.id, so we provide you the easy way and you do not need to go to Jakarta”, he said.
Furthermore, he explained that before applying for a VISA, the first thing to be done by students is getting the Study Recommendation Letter from the Ministry or the host university, in this case, Universitas Syiah Kuala is the host university.
Meanwhile, the Vice Rector of USK, Dr. Taufiq Saidi., M.Eng., IPU, delivered his welcome and appreciation to the international students who have been selected. He hoped they can adapt to the new environment comfortably.
“Welcome to Universitas Syiah Kuala and Banda Aceh, I hope you can enjoy your study here. And another important thing is Aceh has many cultures that you can learn or enjoy, such as the traditional cuisines, coffee, traditions, and others”, he added.
He also informed the university has various Student Activity Centers that can be a medium for them to express their ideas through activities.
In addition, Universitas Syiah Kuala recently has approximately 80 international students from various countries. The university is now preparing to be “The World Class University”, so the university is encouraging to increase the number of international students.
