USK Participated in the IHEE, Timor Leste
Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK) participated in the 2023 Indonesia Higher Education Expo (IHEE) in Dili, Timor Leste, organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) on 24-28 October 2023.
The event held at the Indonesian Cultural Center (PBI) in the country’s capital, was opened jointly by Indonesian Ambassador Okto Dorinus Manik and Deputy Prime Minister, Coordinating Minister for Social Affairs and Minister of Rural Development and Community Housing of Timor Leste, Mariano Assanami Sabino Lopez.
USK delegates’ attendance at IHEE 2023 along with 40 other Indonesian university delegates was facilitated directly by the Education Attaché of the Indonesian Embassy in Dili, Prof. Dr. Phil. Ikhfan Haris, M.Sc. The universities offered educational opportunities to study in Indonesia for several levels, Diploma, Bachelor, Master, or Doctoral levels.
On this occasion, two USK delegates; the Dean of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, drh. Teuku Reza Ferasyi, MSc., PhD and Liason Officer for USK FKH Collaboration, and OIA representative, drh. Awaluddin, promoted and introduced the faculties and city of Banda Aceh, as well as the USK scholarship offers.
The IHEE was well received and enthusiastically attended by thousands of high school students or equivalent who had just finished taking their final exams in Timor Leste. The USK stand which was located at the entrance to the expo location was very strategic, so most of the students went directly to it to obtain information about the study programs offered and the scholarship support. Apart from promoting the field of study, USK delegates also had a chance to promote the university by delivering a presentation in the Mini Theater Room at PBI.
During the event of IHEE 2023, several Memorandums of Understanding were also signed among Indonesian and Timorese Higher Institutions. On this occasion, USK signed a collaboration document with the Institute Superior Cristal (ISC) and Universidade Oriental Timor Lorosa’e (UNITAL), Dili.
