USK Lecturer Presented A Guest Lecture in Thailand

Talbani Farlian S.E., Ak, M.A., AWP, International Collaboration Coordinator of Office of International Affairs (OIA), also a lecturer of IBEP International Program, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK), delivered a presentation at Thaksin University, Thailand, on August 16 2023. The lecture themed The Economics of Money, Banking, and Financial Markets and took place at lecture room on the 2nd floor of Faculty of Economics building. This lecture was attended by 56 Thailand students from Development Economics major.

He took the occasion to explain how financial markets work like financial cross borders, foreign exchange traffic, bond, stock and foreign exchange markets, exchange rates, other financial instruments that influence everyday life, as well as how to check the health of financial institutions such as banks, investment and insurance companies, and explained how to understand the role of money in the economy. Moreover, he described several English terms used in the economic field and continued with an interactive question and answer session.

One of the lecturers from Thaksin University, Faculty of Economics, Dr. Thanawit Bunsit, said in his speech that Thailand students need courses related to global economics, money and finance.

“Students not only need to know the Economic issues in Thailand but also the global Economic, especially the global environment that uses English as the foreign language. Thailand students do need an Economic class environment with a world-class feel that is based on “union card” communication skills, one of them is proficiency in English so that it does not only encourage Economic knowledge but also the language,” he concluded.

In addition, Talbani introduced USK and the international programs organized by OIA. Further, he discussed ongoing international collaborations like exchange program for Lecturers and Student Mobility between Universitas Syiah Kuala and Thaksin University, as well as the possibility of implementing a Dual Degree Program between both universities.
