USK Hosted the First International Quranic Daurah
Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK), under the Office of International Affairs (OIA) coordination, successfully hosted one-week International Quranic Cycle in collaboration with IKAT (Ikatan Alumni Timur Tengah) and Allaithy Academy. The event was held from 22 to 28 December 2022 at AAC Dayan Dawood building, Universitas Syiah Kuala.
The daurah (intensive training to improve quality) took a theme called “Tajwid dan Talaqqi Intensif Bersanad”. It invited a wise sheikh as the speaker from Egypt, it was Sheikh Dr. Abdelrahman Monis Allaithy. The participants of the daurah were enthusiastic. Over 200 participants from various backgrounds, the public and students, attended the daurah. The youngest participant who participated in this daurah was a 7-year-old kid.
The activity aims to invite people to love the Quran more, starting with learning how to read it better and correctly.
USK Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. Agussabti, M. Si, opened this event gladly. In his welcome speech, he said that this was the first time for USK to hold an international daurah event, moreover, it was attended by a large number of participants, including children.
“I am very happy to see the participants here enthusiastically participating in this event, and there are not only adults but children also participating. I was touched to see them spending their school holidays by learning Quran.”
“We hope that in the future, USK will collaborate with IKAT so we can continue to carry out a similar activity, and hopefully this will be a blessing for all of us,” he concluded.
From the IKAT side, H. Muhammad Fadhillah, Lc., M.Us., the chairman of the IKAT, through his speech said, “IKAT is not a group of elite people. The members as alumni who have gained knowledge from sheikhs in Egypt, want to persuade and invite people to learn the Quran together.”
“This daurah gives me a special impression because this is the first time for IKAT to collaborate with Universitas Syiah Kuala, and we are very happy to be able to invite a very special guest, the sheikh, to teach the participants Quran intensively. Besides, the establishment of this daurah was first initiated by our seniors, and then we were assigned to continue this daurah till today,” he concluded.
The Chairman of OIA, Dr. Muzailin Affan, also welcomed Sheikh Dr. Abdelrahman Monis Allaithy warmly and he hoped Universitas Syiah Kuala, under OIA coordination, can make another joint event with Allaithy Academy in the near future.
