USK Hosted IMT-GT Varsity Council Workshop to Discuss Strategic Planning
University members of Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) Varsity Council gathered at Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK) to attend the IMT-GT Varsity Council Workshop. The workshop took place at AAC Dayan Dawood, USK, Banda Aceh, on 23 May 2023. The workshop focused on strategic planning discussion and preparation for the IMT-GT Varsity Council that will be held greatly this year.
The Rector of USK, Prof. Dr. Ir. Marwan in his speech said welcome to all delegations.
“It is an absolute pleasure to have all of you here today at Universitas Syiah Kuala. I extend my heartfelt greetings and gratitude to each one of you for joining us in this important event”, he said.
“The IMT-GT Varsity Carnival holds great significance as it serves as a platform to foster stronger relationships among university members within the Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand region. This annual event brings together the brightest minds and talents from our universities, promoting cultural exchange, friendly competition, and academic dialogue. Today, we gather here to delve deeper into the upcoming carnival, discussing its various facets and identifying areas for improvement”, he added.
The workshop focused on three main competitions, they are Culture, Sport, and Seminar. During the event, all university members would ensure that each competition showcases the rich diversity and talent within universities. By addressing the specific details and challenges associated with each competition, they can enhance the overall experience for all participants, creating a truly memorable event.
Furthermore, the workshop provided an excellent opportunity for all university members to collectively define and refine the vision, mission, purpose, values, objectives, strategies, actions, tactics, plans, and risks associated with the IMT-GT Varsity Carnival. Through open discussions and collaborative efforts, they can establish a clear roadmap that will guide them toward achieving shared goals and aspirations.
Meanwhile the President of IMT-GT Varsity Council, Mr. Ahmad Martadha Mohamed, on that occasion delivered his appreciation and compliment to USK that committed and dedicated to hosting the IMT-GT Varsity Council Strategic Planning Workshop on that day.
“This is an important workshop as it will determine what we do for the next few months and years in fulfillment of the mandate given to us by this council. We need to comply with these three components, strategic thinking, long-range planning, and operational planning for future IMT-GT dimension”, he stated.
He hoped that through this planning workshop, all university members would get the best solution to ensure the continuity of the IMT-GT programs, and the contents of the discussion would produce a comprehensive blueprint strategic planning framework.
Attended in this workshop delegations from Prince of Songkhla University, Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya, Walailak University, Thaksin University, Universiti Teknologi MARA Perlis, Universiti Utara Malaysia, Universiti Malaysia Perlis, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Universitas Sumatera Utara, Universitas Negeri Medan, and Universitas Negeri Padang.
On the next day, all delegations directed to have a site visit for IMT-GT Varsity Carnival venue on campus such as Gelanggang, Sport Center, Stadium of Ali Bansyah Amin, and Pentanque playing area.
