Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK) held a Briefing and Psychological Competency Mapping session for prospective participants of the USK Student International Mobility Award (USIMA) academic year 2024/2025 on Tuesday, 2 July 2024, in the Flamboyan room, AAC Dayan Dawood Building, USK.
This event aimed to enhance students’ readiness to participate in the upcoming IISMA (Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards) program by providing motivation and sharing experiences from program alumni.
Additionally, the event included Psychological Competency Mapping, designed to identify and assess the psychological traits, skills, and attributes necessary for students to succeed in specific roles or contexts. A total of 67 students from various faculty backgrounds attended the session.
“This activity is designed to prepare students to be more competent and qualified in their fields to apply for the IISMA program in the future,” said Prof. Dr. Mustanir, M.Sc., Vice-Rector of USK for Student Affairs and Alumni, during the opening and inauguration of the event.
“I hope that after participating in USIMA, students will become better, more independent, and self-aware,” he added.
The event continued with an introduction presentation on the USIMA program by Prof. Mailizar, USIMA Coordinator, followed by an Experience Sharing and Q&A session with IISMA program awardees, an English Language Training session by Dr. Kismullah, Head of USK’s Language Center, and a Motivation and Psychology session along with Psychological Competency Mapping by a team of psychologists.
The Chairman of the Office of International Affairs (OIA) of USK gave positive feedback on the event. “This briefing is essential to ensure USK students are ready to face academic and cultural challenges abroad, so they need to be well-prepared before registration and departure. I hope USK students remain committed and make the most of this opportunity to broaden their horizons,” said Dr. Muzailin Affan.
