USK Holds Orientation Day for 40 New International Students

Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK) successfully hosted the orientation program for 40 new international students for the 2024/2025 academic year. The event, officially opened by the USK Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. Marwan, took place in the VIP room of AAC Dayan Dawood Hall on November 15, 2024.

The international students are from 11 countries, including Thailand, Gambia, Mali, Tajikistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Rwanda, Myanmar, Yemen, Afghanistan, and India.

The event was attended by the Chairman of the Office of International Affairs (OIA), Dr. Muzailin Affan, M.Sc, alongside other university officials and faculty members who will support the international students throughout their academic journey at the university.

In his address, the Rector expressed pride in USK being chosen as a study destination by students from such diverse nations.

“Your presence brings diverse perspectives that will enrich our community. We hope you not only excel academically but also gain valuable cultural experiences during your time at the university,” said Prof. Marwan.

He emphasized USK’s commitment to supporting the academic activities of all international students, ensuring their time at the university is both rewarding and memorable.

“We are dedicated to making your experience at USK an unforgettable one,” he added.

Prof. Marwan also extended gratitude to the faculties involved in welcoming the new cohort of international students, particularly the Faculties of Economics and Business, Law, Engineering, Medicine, and the Graduate School. These faculties host various programs tailored to international students, including Management, Law, Computer Engineering, Medicine, and master’s programs in Public Health and Integrated Coastal Resource Management.

As part of its internationalization efforts, USK remains committed to providing educational opportunities for international students and fostering a welcoming environment for learners from around the world.

“With programs like this orientation, we aim to help international students adapt more effectively and succeed in their studies at USK,” the Rector concluded.
