USK Holds Info Session on Oberlin Shansi Staff Exchange Program
Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK) held an Info Session on the Oberlin Shansi Staff Exchange Program on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at the USK Main Library. The event discussed opportunities for USK academic staff to participate in a fully funded three-month residency program at Oberlin College, United States, sponsored by Oberlin Shansi.
The session featured Ted Samuel, Senior Director of Oberlin Shansi, as the main speaker. He was accompanied by Ariana Leandry, an Oberlin fellow currently based at USK. In his presentation, Ted Samuel outlined the program’s requirements and selection process, which are designed to provide significant opportunities for USK lecturers to broaden their academic and cultural perspectives at Oberlin College.
“This program not only offers international academic experience but also builds global networks and cross-cultural collaboration,” said Ted Samuel to the participants.
The event was attended by lecturers from various faculties at USK as well as alumni of the Oberlin Shansi visiting scholar program. The participants showed great enthusiasm, asking many questions about eligibility criteria, the application process, and what to expect during the residency in the United States.
The Oberlin Shansi Staff Exchange Program has long served as a vital bridge in the international collaboration between Oberlin College and Universitas Syiah Kuala. Through this program, USK lecturers have the chance to develop professionally and introduce Indonesian culture on the global stage.
With the success of this Info Session, it is hoped that more USK lecturers will be encouraged to apply for this prestigious program.
