USK and Russian House Signed MoU
Universitas Syiah Kuala and Russian House agreed to work together and provide scholarships, especially for USK and Aceh students. This commitment was marked by the signing of an MoU by the USK Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. Marwan, and the Director of Russian House, Victoria V. Vicman, at the USK Senate Hall, on 27 July 2023.
Victoria through her speech said that every year the Russian government provides scholarships to countries around the world, including Indonesia. The scholarship program is targeted for undergraduate, master, doctoral, and specialist education programs.
The offered excellences of scope in Russia are nuclear, oil and gas, medicine, and sports. Victoria revealed that every year the number of scholarship quotas given to Indonesia is 161 people for 2022. Then this number will increase to 300 people in 2023.
However, this quota has not been fulfilled. This year the number of scholarship recipients is only around 200 people. Therefore, Victoria hoped that through this MoU, the number of applicants from Aceh can increase.
USK Rector welcomed the form of this cooperation agreement. He considered this moment was very beneficial specially to support the improvement of human resources in Aceh province.
“So, we hope that this opportunity should be taken especially for those who are going to study in Russia. And we are very grateful because this scholarship program is very valuable for improving our human resources,” said Rector.
Apart from scholarship programs, the MoU also agreed on other areas of cooperation such as student exchanges, researchers, scientific publications, and other academic programs.
Pada pertemuan tersebut, turut hadir Wakil Rektor Bidang Perencanaan, Kemitraan, dan Bisnis USK Prof. Dr. Ir. Taufiq Saidi, M. Eng, Direktur Sekolah Pascasarjana, Para Dekan dan Wakil Dekan serta sejumlah mahasiswa di lingkungan USK.
