UPSI’s Visit to Syiah Kuala University
Syiah Kuala University received a delegation from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) which comprises of 22 students and 2 lecturers, Monday April 8th, 2019. The visit will last on Friday, April 12th. UPSI is one of the leading universities from Malaysia.

Upon arrival at the FKIP Auditorium of Syiah Kuala University, the UPSI delegation was welcomed by a special traditional Acehnese performance by Sanggar Seni Himageo.
To start off the opening ceremony of the “Global HADARI Engagement and Collaboration UPSI-Aceh”, Edy Sudirman as the general chairman of Geography Students Association of FKIP Syiah Kuala University delivered the welcoming remarks. Following on, Muhamad Zafee, representative of the UPSI delegation gave a speech to introduce the members of the delegation and about UPSI.
The visit program was officiated by Deputy Dean of the Teacher Training and Education Faculty of Syiah Kuala University, Dr. M. Hasan. In his remarks, Dr. Hasan said that Syiah Kuala University gladly welcomes the delegation of UPSI. “To increase our ranking nationally and globally, Syiah Kuala University open its doors to international cooperation. The student exchange program with UPSI is surely beneficial not only for our students but also for the institution” Said Dr. Hasan.
Prof. Dr. Mohd Hairy Ibrahim from UPSI also delivered a speech. He said that the program will offer once in a lifetime opportunity for UPSI students to gain global exposure. “Why we should travel far away if we have a great university from our neighbor to exchange culture and engage with the world. It has been our main interest to visit Serambi Mekah which full of wisdom for our students to seek”.

UPSI students accompanied by a representative of Syiah Kuala University students will have activities together to strengthen their relationship. Having public lecture on SDGs presented by Prof. Dr. Mohd Hairy Ibrahim, playing ice-breaking games, planting mangroves and visiting a foster home in Banda Aceh are some of the highlighted activities from 8th to 12th April.
