The 1st OIA Mini Bazar

The Office of International Affairs (OIA) of Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK) turned the mini park of the office into a mini bazaar of International Food. The event themed Variety International Food and Beverage Festival was held on 23 – 25 August 2022, at OIA.
OIA hosted the OIA Mini Bazaar for the first time after the pandemic and it was run by a group of OIA interns under the OIA staff guidance.
OIA Coordinator for Promotion & International Mobility, Izzan Nur Aslam S.T., M.Eng officially opened the event and hoped that the event could be the first kick for another big festival that would be held at the campus soon.
“We appreciated all support and involved sponsors, especially volunteers who have worked hard to make this successful event. This is the first step of us, as a warming up, later we will organize another big event, that is International Food Festival which will bring more joyfulness for you”, he said.
Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation & Public Relations of USK, Dr. Ir. Taufiq S., M.Eng., IPU, also supported this event. Represented by the Vice Dean of Marine Faculty, the vice rector delivered that this event could be a strategy to create an international environment on campus, we could start it with the food and culture.
The bazaar promoted cuisines from different foreign countries, presented by international students studying at Universitas Syiah Kuala, such as Anzac from Australia, Pilaf from Turkmenistan, Maqluba from Palestine, and various foods from Indonesia.
An international student from Turkmenistan studying Informatics, Toyly Ashyyev, found this event remarkable and he viewed it as a chance to know varieties of food and culture from various countries.
Officers, lecturers, students, and public visitors had a pleasant time while having the food available in the mini bazaar.
