Wednesday, 5 February 2020, Prof. Dr. Samsul Rizal, M.Eng, the Rector of Syiah Kuala University, welcomed a delegation visitation from Institut Francais Indonesia (IFI) that was represented by Stephane Dovert, the Cooperation Counselor, Annisa Fauziah, the Deputi Atase of university cooperation, Chloe Garniou, the Director of Alliance Francaise Medan, and Nur Hidayah, the Person in Charge of Campus France Medan.    

At the meeting, both parties discussed the possibility of cooperation in science and France language. For the university, the IFI offered several academic programs such as internship, vocational study, and France course. Also, the IFI offered an academic three-weeks Summer Course program focusses on Science and Laboratory Visit.

Syiah Kuala University with pleased gave positive responses toward the deals and hoped could manage certain activities in the near future. More than that, Syiah Kuala University hoped could manage another detailed program in France such as Internships on industry and agriculture and reciprocal academic exchange.

Besides, both parties discussed cooperation for business on patchouli oil, since the oil is the main source and supplier for several industries in France, managed by Atsiri Research Center (ARC) of Syiah Kuala University. The ARC has built cooperation with Perfume industries from France a long time ago until now. Regarding Patchouli Oil, the university intended to create Aceh as the city of perfume based on patchouli oil and assist to increase the welfare of Aceh societies.
