Seven international students have officially completed the Indonesian Language for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) program at Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK) for the 2024/2025 academic year. The closing ceremony was held on Tuesday, 6 August 2025, at the Office of International Affairs (OIA), USK.

The participants came from various countries, including Busraa Assoumani Gihozo (Rwanda), Saeed Hyder (Pakistan), Mohammad Fawad Karimi (Afghanistan), Kodirzoda Ughiloi (Tajikistan), Tagaev Asliddin (Tajikistan), Myint Myat Thu (Myanmar), and Zaw Thein Htet (Myanmar).

In the opening remarks, Dr. Mukhlis, the BIPA Program Coordinator expressed his appreciation and hopes for the participants. “Learning Indonesian does not end here, because you will continue using the language in your academic journey. After this program, we hope you become ambassadors of the Indonesian language in your respective countries and help promote it further. We also hope to maintain the friendship and connection we have built,” he said.

Representing the BIPA class, Zaw Thein Htet from Myanmar shared his impressions of the program. “I would like to thank all our teachers who have helped during the learning. My friends and I really enjoyed every class, especially the culture class, where we learned a lot about Acehnese food, traditions, and more,” he said.

The ceremony concluded with the awarding of completion certificates and a group photo session to celebrate the participants’ achievements.

The BIPA program at USK is part of the university’s commitment to internationalizing education and promoting the Indonesian language and culture globally. Through this program, international students not only learn the language but also gain deeper insights into Indonesian — particularly Acehnese — cultural heritage.
