PSU Thailand Visits USK

Delegations from Prince of Songkla University (PSU), Thailand visited Universitas Syiah Kuala on 17 February 2023. The delegations were welcomed warmly by Prof. Dr. Ir. Agussabti, M.Si., Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at Balai Senat USK.
The visitation aimed to conduct a Guest Lecture, and a MoA signing ceremony. Through this visitation, it is expected can strengthen the cooperation between both parties shortly and cooperation in another field.
“We are happy and appreciate your visit to our university”, said the Vice-Rector.
“It is honorable to know that our cooperation lasted for more than ten years, and various academic activities were held successfully. Moreover, PSU is an active member of IMT-GT (Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle) UNINET (University Network) which means we together can develop more academic activities”, he expressed.
Vice-rector also hoped that both parties can continue cooperation in Student & Staff Mobility and Joint Research programs.
“I believe through this cooperation we can increase the capability and contribution to our university globally. We also can discuss the potential bilateral collaboration”, he closed.
While Asst. Prof. Dr. Thakerng Wongsirichot, Vice President for Academic and International Affairs in his speech said that “the cooperation between Universitas Syiah Kuala and Prince of Songkla University was started in 2006. During that time, both universities successfully organized activities such as Student or Staff Exchange programs, conferences, MoA signing ceremonies with faculties, and others. Also, both universities actively participate in various events held under IMT-GT UNINET programs that still running now”.
“I appreciate your warm welcome, I hope through this visitation, we can strengthen the friendship between both universities, discuss and explore more possible joint events for the future, he added.
The end of the meeting was continued by the discussion among the heads and deans or vice deans led by the chairman of the Office of International Affairs of USK, Dr. Muzailin Affan, M.Sc. Both parties discussed various academic activities such as joint publication or research programs, staff and student mobility programs, conferences, workshops, and so on.
In addition, the delegations from PSU, Thailand, consist of 12 members, they are Asst. Prof. Dr. Thakerng Wongsirichot, Vice President for Academic and International Affairs, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Udom Thongudomporn, Vice Dean for Education and International Affairs, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Srisurang Suttapreyasri, Vice Dean for Research and Graduate Education, Asst. Prof. Dr. Mathinee Yucharoen, Lecturer of Faculty of Environmental Management, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kannika Sahakaro, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology, and Miss Jiratha Bunyayuwa, Staff of the International Office of PSU.
Attended the meeting Prof. Dr. Hizir Sofyan, Director of Graduate Program, Dr. Muzailin Affan M.Sc., Chairman of Office of International Affairs, Prof. Dr. dr. Maimun Syukri, Sp.PDKHG, Dean of Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Teuku Tahlil, S.KP.MS., Dean of Faculty of Nursery, Dr. drg. Cut Soraya, M.Pd., Sp.KG, Dean of Faculty of Dentistry, Prof. Dr. Teuku Mohamad Iqbalsyah, S.Si.,M.Sc, Dean of Faculty of Math and Science, Prof. Dr. Muchlisin Z.A.,S.Pi.,M.Sc., Dean of Faculty of Marine and Fisheries, and others.
After the rectorate meeting and discussion session, the delegations hold the public lecture and study info session at Rufaida Auditorium, Faculty of Nursery Universitas Syiah Kuala. The event was opened for students and alumni with related backgrounds, as well as alumni that have finished their studies at PSU, Thailand. On this occasion, the attendees were given a chance to ask directly for scholarships and information on how to take the master of the doctoral degree in Thailand.
At the same time, the MoA signing ceremony was held at the Pascasarjana building, Universitas Syiah Kuala. The MoA was signed by Dr. Hizir Sofyan, Director of the Graduate Program of USK, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Thakerng Wongsirichot, Vice President for Academic and International Affairs of PSU.
The ceremony was witnessed by head representatives of USK and staff. After that, both parties introduced each campus briefly and discussed potential cooperation.
For another agenda, PSU delegations planned to visit the Pidie location on the same day to conduct a meeting with DHO Pidie staff.
