OIA roadshow

Office of International Affairs in collaboration with the unit work of Kerjasama held OIA Online Roadshow, which started on 4 March 2021. The roadshow was supposed to promote and re-build cooperation among OIA and faculties, as well as to provide information on international cooperation which gives the faculties a possibility to engage with partner universities abroad. Like the mission of Universitas Syiah Kuala recently stated, the university is going to achieve the world-class university level. 

 

Dr. Muzailin, the chairman of OIA said “the purpose is to combine or work together, to be more effective the delivered information and planning in the future that related to the international cooperation, which might be in form of inbound or outbound. Moreover, OIA was assigned by the Rector of the university to play its roles as the “front door” and the facilitator for every international activity or event. In its implementation, it is expected that each faculty also plays its great role to make it happen”.  

 

OIA Roadshow was held once every two weeks and it invited Liaison Officers from each faculty of Universitas Syiah Kuala and officers related. 

 

Up to now, the roadshow was held successfully were representatives from the faculties presented, such as Faculty of Law, Faculty of Math and Science, Faculty of Social Science, Faculty of Marine, Faculty of Economy and Business, Faculty of Teacher and Training Program, Faculty of Engineering, and Faculty of Agriculture, while remain faculty representatives will be invited on another occasion. 

 

The roadshow presented two speakers, they were Iskandar S.T, coordinator of unit work of Kerjasama, and Dr. Mailizar, coordinator of promotion and international mobility of OIA.

Iskandar, S.T informed in detail the mechanism of initiative cooperation of MoU or MoA arrangement. He delivered that there is an application that can help the procedures, called Simkerma. It is an application that helps to cover all documents related to MoU or MoA its implementation and procedures. The application information can be accessed on the website: simkerma.usk.ac.id

 

Dr. Mailizar re-introduced OIA and its responsibility, as well as academic activities that were held successfully by OIA to promote the university, for example through the Student Mobility Program, in form of student exchange. Recently OIA was informed student exchange offer from three universities, they are Jeju National University (JNU), Korea, Universiti Utara Malaysia, and Universiti Teknologi Mara, Malaysia. This is a valuable opportunity for faculty and students to involve in to obtain certain advantages such as creating a new network and studying abroad.

 

By holding the roadshow activity, faculty representatives had a chance to discuss more cooperation with a foreign university, as well as its procedures and document of cooperation. Moreover, this roadshow surely gives advantages for both parties to increase the university academic activities through a certain program. 

 

Therefore, OIA as the facilitator provides any academic information to faculties and students as well to be followed up and conduct certain activities, even during the pandemic.
