OIA Promotes USK in Thailand

Office of International Affairs (OIA) of Universitas Syiah Kuala participated in the 25th Prince of Songkla University (PSU) Higher Education Fair, 17-18 August 2023, at the International Convention Center Hall, PSU, Hat Yai, Thailand. This great exhibition displayed 137 famous universities booths from ASEAN and European countries.

The Education exhibition was opened for free and invited approximately 2000 senior high school students from Thailand. During the event, there were hundreds of visitors including teachers from various school in Thailand.

Not only exhibition, the 25th PSU Higher Education Fair also held Seminar and other interesting activities to make this annual exhibition more joyful.

“This exhibition, which is a collaboration between Thailand Government and Prince of Songkla University, provides a great opportunity for USK to increase international students at USK. Due to the geographical reason, we should take the chance to make Thailand students interested to study at USK”, said Dr. Muzailin Affan, Chairman of OIA.

Every year, Universitas Syiah Kuala receives many application documents from Thailand students who intend to study at USK. Currently, USK has approximately 35 Thai students studying at USK in different faculties for undergraduate study programs.

Talbani Farlian, S.E., M.A, OIA representative and Coordinator for International Collaboration that opened booth at the Fair said, “The USK booth that we opened really attracted the attention of students from Thailand. They are enthusiastic about getting information about USK and Aceh.”

The USK booth opened at the Educational Fair was also promoted by two USK International students from Thailand.

This Educational Fair was officially opened on August 17, 2023, by Prof. Dr. Thakerng Wongsirichot, the Vice President for Academic and International Affairs.
