KSI Visits USK

King Sejong University (KSI) delegations, accompanied by representatives from Jeju National University, Korea, visited Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK) on 12 May 2023.

The visit purposes were to meet the Rector of USK, Prof. Dr. Ir. Marwan, to discuss the possibility of further cooperation, and conduct monitoring and evaluation of KSI preparation at USK.

One of KSI representatives, Kim Yura, said that they were glad to know that USK has Korean Center at the university library. The center could be more developed. Moreover, the KSI team would take a chance to support the KSI building at the USK Pascasarjana building.

“We will assign language instructors from KSI to teach the Korean language at the university, and the university can help us in VISA processing matters”, she said.

Prof. Sung Kyu KIM, a representative from Jeju National University added that the number of language instructors that will be assigned at the university depends on the number of registrants. The instructors must focus on Korean language learning.

“We will distribute books and teaching materials directly from Korea that can be used by the course participants during learning in the class”, he mentioned.

Meanwhile, the Rector of USK, Prof. Dr. Ir. Marwan, welcomed the delegations warmly. He said USK has the intention to upgrade “Korea” wider.

“We plan to merge available Korea programs at the university with KSI, like Korean Center. In the future, the university will encourage harder the Korean language learning program with the target to produce capable alumni, so they can study in Korean universities or work in Korean industries”, Rector said.

He reviewed that the formed collaboration and its improvement, especially between USK and Jeju National University, can be a bridge for USK to collaborate with other Korean universities or institutions. Regarding the building of KSI, USK commit and will take further steps toward it.

“USK will assist in the VISA matters as requested and welcome the language instructors. Also, the university will support the language course for better education in Aceh”, Rector added.

USK has a strong collaboration with Korea up till now, especially with Jeju National University. USK has a Taekwondo group that is part of the Student Activity Center of USK and the Korean Language Course. Rector hoped that through this well-improved collaboration especially in the language scope, it can be the benefit for alumni and lecturers to work in industries or study in Korea.
