On 17 August 2024, King Sejong Institute (KSI) Banda Aceh and Surabaya branch, in collaboration with the Office of International Affairs (OIA) at Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK), successfully hosted the Korean Culture Day at the AAC Dayan Dawood Building, USK. The event, which aimed to foster cultural exchange and promote the richness of Korean traditions, drew in hundreds of visitors, including members of the local community and USK students.
The day-long event offered attendees a vibrant introduction to various aspects of Korean culture. Visitors had the opportunity to explore a range of stands featuring Korean cuisine, traditional games, arts, language lessons, and the iconic Hanbok, Korea’s traditional attire. The event’s immersive experience allowed participants to engage deeply with Korean customs and traditions.
Dr. Muzailin Affan, M.Sc, the Chairman of the OIA and Director of KSI Banda Aceh, highlighted the significance of the event in his opening remarks. “This is a great opportunity for us to learn more about Korean culture. We have several stands here offering a variety of experiences, from food and games to traditional clothing and art,” he said.
The event kicked off with a dynamic opening ceremony, showcasing a blend of Korean and Acehnese culture. Attendees were treated to captivating performances, including traditional Korean dance, Acehnese dance, and musical performances, which set the tone for a day of cultural celebration and exchange.
Korean Culture Day 2024 not only served as a platform for cultural appreciation but also strengthened the ties between Korea and Indonesia, reflecting the growing interest in cross-cultural understanding and global connections at USK.
