Banda Aceh, 27 May 2025 — The atmosphere on campus is filled with joy and pride as Universitas Syiah Kuala celebrates the graduation of students from diverse backgrounds. Among them is Hannah-Charis Walker, an international student from Australia who has successfully completed her Master’s degree in Education Administration.

“Right now I’m feeling so excited, proud of everyone’s achievements, and really touched by the deep respect shown to the students’ parents,” shared Hannah. “I’m also quite moved that I can finally add M.Pd to my name!”

For Hannah, the journey toward her degree came with its own set of academic hurdles. “One challenge was understanding research methodology adequately to be able to make good choices to set myself up to publish in prestigious journals,” she said. To overcome this, she immersed herself in extensive readings, maintained a qualitative research journal, and actively participated in methodology sessions both at USK and other institutions.

She attributes much of her success to the strong network of support she found throughout her studies. “I am indebted to my classmates for their cooperative spirit, encouragement, and motivation,” she said. “I would also like to give a big thank you to Universitas Syiah Kuala for trusting me with a Partial Scholarship for my tuition.”

Hannah also expressed deep appreciation for her academic supervisors, noting their commitment to helping her navigate both cultural and language differences. She gave special recognition to the Office of International Affairs (OIA), whose team, she said, “provided many bridges for me to better understand the university, the local culture, and to have fun while being involved in student life.”

As she proudly joins the ranks of USK alumni, Hannah’s journey reflects the university’s commitment to fostering international academic excellence and intercultural collaboration.

Congratulations to Hannah-Charis Walker and to all graduates of the 2025 cohort — may your achievements today open doors to a bright and impactful future.
