Czech Minister for the Environment Visits USK
Prof. Dr. Ir. Samsul Rizal, M. Eng, IPU, the Rector of Universitas Syiah Kuala, welcomed warmly an honorary visit by the Minister of the Environment of the Czech Republic, H. E. Mgr. Richard Brabec, and some Czech delegations, on 24 June 2021 at AAC Dayan Dawood, Universitas Syiah Kuala.
“This is our pleasure to be able to welcome the foreign Minister and delegations from the Czech Republic. I would say this is a great historic moment for us. This is one of our strategies to bring the university to the world community level and achieve the local and international target in higher institutions. Through the collaboration, we do expect national and international network and cooperation”, the rector said in his welcoming speech.
H.E. Mgr. Richard Brabec, in his speech, delivered his pleasure. “We are glad we can visit Universitas Syiah Kuala, Indonesia. Our visit aims to follow up the cooperation between Universitas Syiah Kuala and the Czech higher institution. We can see opportunities that can be built through academic activities such as research collaboration, student academic exchanges, joint program, capacity building, and so on”.
In his short speech, Thomas Drobik, the Vice-Dean for Internal and Public Relations, Faculty of Science, Ostrava University, also stated, “We do expect to work together on making contributions for the environment through university collaboration, with institutions from Indonesia and the Czech Republic”.
Universitas Syiah Kuala has several international collaboration documents with foreign universities, including with university and conservation agencies of Czech Republic, Ostrava University and Liberec Zoo.
“Today, we are pleased that we can sign another MoU with the university from the Czech Republic, that is with the University of Jan Evangelista in Ústí nad Labem (UJEP)”.
On this occasion, the minister and Czech delegations had other three agendas at Universitas Syiah Kuala; distributing donation of Binoculars to Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Universitas Syiah Kuala for research and educational purposes from Liberec Zoo, signing of cooperation document (MoU) between Universitas Syiah Kuala and the University of Jan Evangelista in Ústí nad Labem (UJEP), and attending the opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony of the Czech Corner at the Universitas Syiah Kuala Library.
