Hailing from a middle-class family, I am Alagie Salieu Nankey. I am a simple, sweet, confident, and cunning fellow. I am currently studying at Universitas Syiah Kuala (Unsyiah), Faculty of Engineering, Department of Architecture. I feel glad to be the part of this great university with such great friends, helpful and loving lecturers, and outstanding administration.

I enthusiastically study at Universitas Syiah Kuala to achieve my ambitions which in the same time they can develop my origin place as my motive of study. My department aims to create a safe, comfortable, healthy, convenient, and sustainable building environment through visionary leadership and perspective. My department inculcates professionalism and righteous students. In class, I am instructed to participate and motivated to accomplish our weekly tasks on time. I am encouraged together, share ideas and together with friends I innovate an explosive building or structure. I am often trained in and outside campus to collect information and inspiration.

Upon my graduation I aim to return to the Gambia and work hand in hand with the ministry of higher education, lands and survey, Nation Road Authority and GAMWORKS and most especially with my former institute in the Architect department share my knowledge that I acquire from Universitas Syiah Kuala. I will help to teach and establish a sound market mechanism of the building industry based on the transparent real estate market information, including conducting real estate economic trend studies and providing public trusted and reliable cycle indicators. Through the promotion of ecological, energy-saving, waste reducing, and healthy green buildings and the implementation of the building energy conservation policy, I will teach and help to provide a comfortable and healthy indoor environment, to advance the knowledge-based economic development, to achieve waste reduction and resources efficiency, to assist the industry upgrading, as well as to create a green environmental-friendly subtropical that I learn from Universitas Syiah Kuala.

Moreover, I plan to work with experts to conduct the integral research on urban disaster prevention, to develop new disaster mitigation technology, to encourage the application of research achievements, to carry out community disaster prevention planning, to strengthen disaster prevention concepts, as well as to build a safer and more sustainable homeland with disaster prevention functions.

I will teach the technics and establish regulations and programs, to develop fire outbreak prevention, the fire spread control, and structure damage prevention technology, and to promote the application of smoke control and means of escape technology. Further, teaching and promoting seismic-resistant building technology and wind-resistant experiments and research, to consolidate building structures, to reform the regulations and standards, as well as to develop building construction automation and innovative building materials are parts of my goals for future.

To meet the living requirement of people of all ages and different physical needs, my department will establish a universal barrier-free space and a safe living environment for buildings to satisfy the public requirements for living quality. A building is the movement of history, the symbol of culture, and the creature of science and art. I will help to conduct historical and cultural building preservation, renovation, and restoration research, to enhance the structure restoration, preservation condition, and preservation technologies, as well as to increase the seismic-resistant, pest control, and corrosive reducing function of historical buildings to all my student and associates.

I will teach to develop building label certification systems and to promulgate various performance assessment indicators, such as fire prevention label, seismic resistant label, green building label, green building material label, and intelligent building label.

At last, I proudly want to be an ambassador of Universitas Syiah Kuala in my country and established its alumni in the Gambia. With glad I will try to propose my former institute to follow up UNSYIAH so that Gambia people will have the same opportunity as I am.

I deem my parents as being my best mentors. I have learned the real meaning and worth of life from my parents. I am with a happy, focused, and hardworking family. That is the greatest blessing of God for me.
