USK Students Join Student Exchange and ECIC 2025 at UniRazak, Malaysia

Ten students of Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK) participated in the Student Exchange Program at Universiti Tun Abdul Razak (UniRazak), Malaysia, held from 17-24 September 2025. Alongside a series of academic and cultural activities, the students also had the opportunity to present their research at the Eco-Campus International Conference (ECIC) 2025.
The participants included Alya Irzan Ramadhani, Arie Irawan, Azmi Lamkaruna, Mhd. Tampan Ahyaul Ihsan Batubara, Rafi Firjatullah, Riska Dwi Putri, Sarah Nada Jinan, and Sutryanto from the Faculty of Engineering (Computer Engineering Program), Khairul Auni from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (Informatics Program), and Hendrik Leo from the Graduate School (Engineering Science Program).
The delegation was accompanied by Dr. Muzailin Affan, Chairman of the Office of International Affairs (OIA) USK, along with OIA staff and Ir. Rahmad Dawood, S.Kom., M.Sc., IPM., ASEAN Eng., APEC Eng., Head of the USK Laboratory Unit. Their presence provided valuable guidance and support throughout the academic and cross-cultural activities at UniRazak.
The program began with an orientation and a warm welcome from Mohamed Fairuz Bin Mohamed Noor, Chief Operating Officer of UniRazak, and Muhamad Safwan Bin Zulkifli, Director of the Student Experience Department and lecturer at UniRazak. During the briefing, participants were introduced to the series of events and learning sessions planned for the exchange program.
In addition to academic sessions, USK students took part in the Eco-Campus International Conference (ECIC) 2025, where they delivered oral presentations showcasing USK’s research and innovations to an international audience.
The conference was officially opened by Her Royal Highness Tengku Puteri Raja Tengku Ilisha Ameera Al-Sultan Abdullah, Princess of Pahang, who emphasized the importance of recognizing the Eco-Campus initiative as a national higher education framework to ensure sustainability remains at the core of education in Malaysia and across ASEAN.

Beyond academic engagements, the program also included cultural visits, public speaking training, and explorations of Malaysian history and culture, providing participants with meaningful cross-cultural learning experiences and opportunities to expand their international networks.
One of the participants, Hendrik Leo, shared that joining the program offered new inspiration for advancing research and strengthening international communication skills.
Meanwhile, Dr. Muzailin Affan expressed his appreciation for the students’ participation in this international program.
“USK students’ involvement in the exchange program at UniRazak and ECIC demonstrates their readiness to compete at the global level. Programs like this are essential to enhance academic capacity, expand international networks, and strengthen USK’s global reputation,” he stated.

This initiative is part of the Enhancing Quality for International University Recognition (EQUITY) Program of Universitas Syiah Kuala, aimed at expanding international exposure, improving educational quality, and reinforcing USK’s position as a world-class university.
Through this program, USK students are expected not only to gain new academic insights but also to serve as campus ambassadors, promoting the university’s research excellence and spirit of international collaboration on the global stage.
