Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK) warmly welcomed a delegation from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) on 17 February, 2025, as part of the Global Learning Program. The welcoming ceremony took place at the Adnan Ganto Room, USK Main Library, and was led by Dr. Muzailin Affan, Chairman of the Office of International Affairs.
“The bond between USK and UTM is very strong, with many collaborative activities established over the years. Recently, USK has sent students to UTM through exchange programs such as IISMA (Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards), ICT (International Credit Transfer), and others. I hope this collaboration continues to thrive in the future,” Dr. Muzailin said in the opening remark.
Also, he expressed his delight at hosting the UTM delegation and wished for a smooth performance of the program as planned.
The UTM delegation consists of 20 students accompanied by five staff members, including Zetty Raihan binti Mohd Yassin, Amyrul Fahmy bin Bakry, Shamsul Azli bin Shamsuray, Khairil Zaidi bin Mohd Zaki, and Athira Natasha binti Muhammad Afandi.
Their visit is part of the Global Learning Program themed Bridging Communities through Service Learning & Cultural Exchange, which runs from 16 to 21 February 2025. The program features a series of activities, including an Entrepreneurship Workshop, Arts & Culture Workshop, visits to Dekranasda Aceh Besar and Rumah Batik, historical site tours in Banda Aceh, mangrove tree planting, and learning the traditional Acehnese dance called Ratoeh Jaroe.
Representing the UTM staff, Zetty Raihan binti Mohd Yassin expressed her excitement about visiting Aceh, particularly USK. She also extended her gratitude to USK, especially the Office of International Affairs (OIA), for their support in making the Global Learning Program a success.
“We hope that UTM students will gain valuable experiences and insights into Acehnese culture from various perspectives, as well as have meaningful interactions with the local community,” she concluded.
