Thailand Embassy and USK Forge Partnership to Improve Education Quality

Thai Embassy committed to collaborate with Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK) in efforts to enhance the quality of education. This commitment was conveyed by Royal Thai Embassy Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission, Hathaichanok Frumau, during a visit to USK on 26 April 2024, accompanied by Supakarn Jindawat, Military Attaché Colonel, Nawin Chirapant, the Counsellor, Juthamas Chantabunlert, First Secretary and Consul, and Rina Juwita, the Education Assistant.

The Thailand delegation was warmly welcomed by the Vice-Rector for Finance and Resources, Prof. Dr. Marwan, M.Si, in the Mini Rector’s Room, Universitas Syiah Kuala. Also present at the meeting were the Director of the Directorate of Planning and Partnerships, Dr. Iflan Nauval, M.ScIH, Sp.GK(K), Sp.KKLP, AIFO-K, the Vice-Chair of the Office of International Affairs, Prof. Dr. Mailizar, M.Ed, and representative of Thailand students studying at USK.

Prof. Marwan welcomed the Thailand delegation, considering it as an honor for the university. He stated that currently, 45 Thai students are studying at USK across four faculties, the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Nursing, the Faculty of Economics and Business, and the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education.

“Therefore, we hope that the government of Thailand and USK can continue to build a strong partnership, particularly regarding the improvement of education quality,” said Prof. Marwan.

In addition, during the occasion, Prof. Marwan also offered various other opportunities for collaboration, such as student and faculty exchanges or research partnerships.

Meanwhile, Hathaichanok Frumau expressed her gratitude and appreciation for USK’s role in accepting and educating Thailand students for studies at the university. Especially noteworthy is the fact that Thailand students represent the largest group of International students at USK. Accordingly, she pledged to strengthen the partnership with USK and welcomed other collaboration opportunities with the university.

“On behalf of the Thailand Government, we extend our appreciation. We are certainly ready to support USK through collaborative programs that can enhance our human resources or education quality,” she stated.
