Esther’s Fine Art Exhibition & Competition

Office of International Affairs (OIA) of Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK), in collaboration with Esther’s Fine Art, hold again the Art Exhibition & Competition. The event was held for two days, 17-18 December 2022, at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Mathematics & Natural Sciences, Universitas Syiah Kuala. To carry out the participants’ artwork who previously took drawing classes, the Chief of Esther’s Fine Art, Esther Lee then decided to open the Art Exhibition, as well as the art competition for kids.
The drawing class initiated by Esther’s Fine Art was first opened in 2016, in collaboration with OIA USK, and led by Esther Lee, an art expert from the University of The Nations (UofN) Jeju, South Korea. USK has signed an international cooperation document with UofN for a long time, that is since 2012.
Dr. Muzailin Affan, the chairman of the OIA through his short speech said he appreciated the event, and also delivered briefly the collaboration establishment.
“Universitas Syiah Kuala has been working together with universities in Korea for a long time, one of them is the University of the Nations (UofN) Jeju. The result of this collaboration is we can organize art or drawing classes that are open to the public, especially Aceh people” Dr. Muzailin Affan said.
The cooperation between USK and UofN has recorded a long and great collaboration. Therefore, under OIA and Korean representatives’ coordination, three regular programs were successfully arranged, they are Drawing Class, Taekwondo, and Korean Language Courses.
“USK and UofN plan to open the Sejong Institute soon. The institute will open Korean language courses and cultures. So, we expect all Aceh communities will be more enthusiastic to participate in the new program”, he added.
The Art Exhibition and Competition of the day were enthusiastically attended by visitors including children from various schools, as well as competitors with a total of 40 participants. Moreover, the lecturers of Universitas Syiah Kuala also attended this event.
Esther Lee said, “I am so grateful and happy I can hold this exhibition again, and of course with support from OIA USK. Through this activity, the participants’ painting is exposed to show our appreciation for them. And I am glad I see many visitors interested to attend the exhibition, and some of them even sign up to join the competition”.
