Office of International Affairs (OIA) Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK) re-opened BIPA (Bahasa Indonesia for Foreigners) class for the beginner. For this year, OIA welcomed two language learners from Kyrgyzstan, they are Begaiym Childebaeva and Fatima Maksatbek Kizy. For the language instructors, the participants were guided by Zaifita Minora and Riska.

The class started on 17 October 2022, from Monday to Friday, 08.00 – 12.00 WIB. The class is planned to be held within one semester and takes place at OIA.

The BIPA program assists the learners in learning Bahasa Indonesia theoretically and practically with interactive class activities, as well as introducing the cultures of Indonesia. The learning encourages participants to be active in speaking so they can obtain and remember vocabulary.

According to the chairman of OIA, the BIPA program is very significant for foreigners, especially for those who want to take a degree in Indonesia. The prospective students should prepare their language capability of Indonesian and familiar with the local cultures before attending lectures and living in Indonesia, especially at Universitas Syiah Kuala, Banda Aceh. In that way, this will help them to interact with people in and outside of class.

Earlier, OIA successfully organized Bahasa Indonesia class for international students of USK from various countries, as an attempt to improve their language skills and avoid the language barrier.
