Seminar: Study in Taiwan & Obtain Scholarship

Office of International Affairs (OIA) of Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK) collaborated with Taiwan Education Center (TEC) Indonesia successfully held a seminar studying in Taiwan, on 25 October 2022, at AAC VIP Room, Dayan Dawood building, USK. The event took the theme Study in Taiwan & Obtain Scholarship.
The event was officially opened by Dr. Muzailin Affan, the Chairman of OIA, and said “we would to say thank you for the delegates coming to Universitas Syiah Kuala, we are very glad to welcome you here. Taiwan is popular among our students and some are alumni of certain Taiwan academic programs. This event will be a good chance for our students to get more information about how to study in Taiwan with a scholarship”.
As the Manager of TEC Indonesia, Yogyakarta, Mohammad Bima Aoron Hafiz on that occasion delivered a presentation about Taiwan universities, scholarships provided by the Taiwan government to students and academic staff of USK, and campus life in Taiwan.
“Taiwan’s education system is similar to Indonesia’s education system. The study period for Undergraduate is 4 years, Master Degree is 2 years, and Doctoral Degree is 4 years, stated Mohammad Bima Aoron Hafiz.
“There are several preferred subjects in Taiwan like Language, Engineering, Business & Administration, Economics, Health & Medicine, Humanities, Natural Science, Education, Agriculture, and Life Science”, he added.
According to the speaker, the scholarship given covers the monthly living cost and tuition fee. For those who want to apply to study in Taiwan, applicants can apply online and without a test, and applicants can choose maximum 3 universities that they want to study at.
Throughout the years, it has been recorded that several USK students have finished various academic programs in Taiwan in different universities, such as taking a degree program, attending a summer course program, conducting an academic visit program, taking a student exchange program, and so on. Even currently, two USK students are taking a student exchange program in Taiwan, at National Quemoy University. Moreover, USK has signed MoU with several universities from Taiwan.
Further information about Taiwan, it is a modern and developed country that maintains democratic values. Taiwan has an excellent higher education system that provides wide opportunities for international students to study in Taiwan with various types of programs. Recently there are more than 151 higher education institutions in Taiwan that are recognized for their international reputation, supported by quality human resources (HR). 89% of lecturers at public universities and 72% of lecturers at private universities have obtained a Ph.D. degree and are alumni of reputable universities in the world. With the support of human resources, campuses in Taiwan offer English-language courses.
