International Cooperation on Solar Power Plant
Prof. Dr. Samsul Rizal, M.Eng., IPU., ASEAN.Eng., Rector of Universitas Syiah Kuala, welcomed warmly the visitation conducted by delegations from China Datang Overseas Investment CO., Ltd Indonesian Representative Office (CDTI), 30 November 2021. The delegations were Mr. Wang Junfeng, President Director, Mr. Zhang Yonggang, General Manager, Mr. Jiaoyun, Director of First Department, Andra Nicholas, Marketing Manager, and Suratih, Interpreter.
The visitations aimed to follow up and review cooperation between Universitas Syiah Kuala and CDTI regarding the solar power plant project, which the MoU was signed last year, 27 November 2020, by Prof. Dr. Samsul Rizal, M.Eng., IPU., ASEAN.Eng., Rector of Universitas Syiah Kuala and General Manager of CDTI, Liu Zhao Hong, through online platform.
Universitas Syiah Kuala and CDTI intend to build and develop the solar power plant with a total of 100 MW, and the first capacity that will be provided is 50 MW. The solar power plant will be allocated in Campus II Universitas Syiah Kuala and several locations, Masjid Raya district, Baitussalam district, Darussalam district, and Aceh Greater regency.
On the earlier meeting, Prof. Dr. Samsul Rizal, M.Eng., IPU., ASEAN.Eng., said that this solar power plant might support the university in building the second campus, which one of the university strategies is applying green development and renewable concept. Due to its reasons and with a large area of land, there is a possibility to establish the solar power plant.
In this case, CDTI is responsible for analyzing photovoltaics and proposing project site selection, while the university is responsible for assisting and deciding locations to run the solar power plant project.
Attended today morning meeting from Universitas Syiah Kuala, Dr. Suryadi, as the Rector’s Companion, and Dr. Muzailin Affan, as the Chairman of Office of International Affairs.
After that, the delegations conducted a short visit to the Office of International Affairs. Dr. Muzailin Affan together with Mr. Zhang Yonggang, Mr. Jiaoyun, and Andra Nicholas discussed further the project planning.
