Palestine Association Visit to Syiah Kuala University
October 7th, 2019 Syiah Kuala University hosted a delegation from Palestine, Palestinian Indonesian Friendship Association (PIFA). The delegation of 8 from Palestine led by Abed Meizar, paid a courtesy visit to the university. The visit aimed to create and strengthen a new cooperation between Indonesia and Palestine.
Dr. Ir. Samsul Rizal, M.Eng., the Rector of the university appreciated their visit and introduced them to Aceh and Syiah Kuala University. Being home to over 70 foreign students, the Rector is pleased to welcome more people from Palestine to study at Syiah Kuala University.
“Our university welcomes people from Palestine, and we are delighted to provide scholarship for those who want to study here”, said the rector.
Dr. Muzailin Affan, the chairman of Office of International Affairs also added that in the future Syiah Kuala University will initiate to set up a collaboration with Palestine universities to open doors for exchange and research program. “Syiah Kuala University is planning to create a MoU with one university in Palestine”, Dr. Muzailin Affan stated.
In accompany of the delegation from Palestine is Syiah Kuala University Darmasiswa Program alumnus Mahmoud Abu Arqoub. Alongside other participants from USA, Lithuania, China, South Korea, Thailand, Zimbabwe, and Senegal, Mahmoud Abu Arqoub learned Bahasa Indonesia and cultures for one year in Banda Aceh.
